GADON
GADON MCH & OPD
The MCH and OPD have functioned un-interruptedly and carried out their routine daily work, except the vaccination activities which were referred to Dusamareb. Our target was to attend at least 3000 patients but during the reporting year, 3233 patients have visited the MCH-OPD, in which 1877 (58.06 %) were female and 1356 (41.94 %) were male. Out of the total visits, 808 (24.99 %) were children under five years of age, while pregnant women made 211 (6.53 %). In short, the main bulk of the visiting population was female and children under five years of age.
The main diseases for visiting the MCH and the OPD were respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, trauma of different nature, intestinal parasites, anaemia, eye infections, watery diarrhoea, malaria, skin diseases and dysentery etc.
Community awareness raising, proper health education and regular outreach combined with effective treatment is the main solution, but first, both financial and technical resources to implement these activities need to be made available.
